LIONS V SOMERSET, PREVIEW

LEICESTER reserve Josh Bates is keen to continue his fine form when they take on Somerset at Beaumont Park on Saturday (7.30).

The young gun will be back in Watling JCB Lions’ colours after missing last week’s draw with Poole due to the World Under 21 Team Cup semi-final.

Bates has made a major impact for the side since being snapped up on the eve of the season – and he wants to pick up where he left off with the Rebels in town.

Said Bates: “I’ve been over the moon with how my season has gone for Leicester so far, it’s been really good for me.

“I haven’t managed to do as well in the Championship for some reason which is frustrating, but like I say, I’m happy with my form for Leicester.

“It’ll be good to be back against Somerset on Saturday after missing last week’s meeting, and I’ll hopefully keep going well and do my bit for the team.”

Leicester have drafted in Ellis Perks to guest for the injured Danny Ayres at reserve, whilst Brady Kurtz steps in for Richard Lawson for the visitors with Lawson in action for Glasgow.

LEICESTER: Kim Nilsson, Erik Riss, Jason Garrity, Lasse Bjerre, Danny King, Josh Bates, Ellis Perks.
SOMERSET: Josh Grajczonek, Lewis Kerr, Charles Wright, Michael Palm Toft, Brady Kurtz, Jake Allen, Cameron Heeps.
